Synthetic Studies on Several Heterocycles – NMR Spectroscopic Studies of a Few Potentially Isolable Atropisomeric Benzazepines

The November meeting of the Long Island Subsection will feature Dr. Sasan Karimi of Queensborough Community College presenting his research on the chemistry of pyrroles, benzazepines, and quinolines. Prof. Karimi has been able to synthesize several biologically active pyrroles including 2-aryl-3H-1-benzazepines, in one step from 2-haloanilines and acetophenone derivatives. The impetus for that study was the possibility of new and efficient preparations of biologically active 1-benzazepines.
